Support for Caregivers


What you may be eligible for 

You may be eligible for the leave schemes below if you are a caregiver (e.g. legal guardian, step-parent, foster parent) and have been employed or self-employed (including platform workers) for a continuous period of at least 3 months before you start taking childcare or unpaid infant care leave. 

This also applies to caregivers who have been given an order by the Youth Court for a child in need of care or protection, enhanced care or protection, or under voluntary care arrangements under the Children and Young Persons Act.

Up to 6 days of leave for children under 7, and 2 days of leave for children between 7 and 12.
